どうもどうも！
やっと退院した！
2週間前腕の手術をして、ずっと入院だった。俺って病院の事あまり詳しくないので、日帰りで切って、治して、帰るって感じになると思ったけど、手術したら、2週間も入院しないといけないと言われて！
病院にはネットなど何もなくて、6人部屋でオッサンのど真ん中になって、３帖のスペースで、朝６時から、夜９時までテンテキにつながった感じで、マジでしんどかった。笑
2週目はホテルみたいな個室を受けて、やっと曲作れるようになった。
今週の木曜日にやっと三角巾はいらなくなるかも。
でも、入院してる間一つマジで盛り上がった事があった。。。それはSMAPのツヨシのべろべろはだか公園アドベンチャーだね。３時間ぐらい笑がとめなかった。笑
ちょっとかわいそうと思うけど。
とりあえず、お見舞いしに来た人、マジでありがとうございました！本当に嬉しかった！ありがとう！

I FINALLY got discharged from the hospital.
After about 7 month of fruitless physio torture following my bike crash last july, i finally decided go for a surgical intrusion to fix my arm.
As it happens, i'm pretty fucking dim when it comes to medical shit, so i thought i could just go cut that shit and go home. as it turned out i had to actually stay in there for 2 weeks!
so for the first week I was stuck in a 3by1.5 metre space, in a room with 6 old, farting, grumbling geezas, unable to move with a catheter in my one arm and plaster on the other, with no internet, no tele, no nothing... i must say, it was a BITCH!
however, as a result of my skanky eastern european heritage I managed to blag a bling private room with a view, bathroom, toliet, fridge and shit, so i could set up my makeshift studio and mash out some 'evy choones! feel sorry for my insurance guy though, cos he's gonna get slapped with a heavy arse bill. the room was 25k a day apparently. hehe.
funny thing was though, i had a catheter with a drip on my arm most of the time, so every time I'd hit a drum pad on my korg my blood would flow up the tube into the medicine instead of the meds dripping into my blood. hahaha.
anyway, thanks to everyone who came to visit! really appreciate it!

コータオっていう島に行ってきちゃった。ほとんどダイビングしに来てる人ばかりだったから、ビーチがめっちゃ空いてた。ジャンキーもいなかったし。
Island Koh Tao. Brilliant place. Mostly aimed at divers, so beaches were free.
コータオはバイクはないと何処にも行けないけど、道が無いから、ヤバイ感じで楽しかった。笑。もちろん二人乗りです。
Getting around Koh Tao is a pain, unless you got a bike. So we got a bike. Problem is though, there aren't any roads.... hahahaha.
ジャングルで事故んなかったら、こんなところに出てきちゃう！

やああああっまん！
アルバムはそろそろ完成！良い感じになりそうで！いい曲がたくさんできて、MCさん達に参加してもらったり、ヤバイトラックメイカーにリミックスを頼んだりなどなどをしてきたので、ちょっと疲れた。色々を作りすぎて、最近クラブなどに行く時間が無くなりました。笑 なので、休憩って感じで来週タイに行ってきます！笑
10日間ぐらいです。
とりあえずバンコクで2日間のゲストハウスを予約して、その後は適当で。
去年事故で骨折しちゃった肘がもうそろそろ直ると思ったら、急に先週から小指が痺れてきちゃって、院長がしゅうじつをしなあかんって。マジで最低。中々良く直らん。良く分からないけど、肘の何処かが何処かにくっついちゃったらしくて、筋肉を切るみたい。その後は又リハビリ半年ぐらいになっちゃう！
こんな軽いケガで、1年以上リハビリするのは絶対思わなかった。めんどくさいなーー。
でもでも、今までしゅうじつした事ないので、チャレンジって感じで何故かお楽しみにしてるけど。。。笑

As yours truly mentioned in the Japanese section above, my new album is coming along nicely. Some sick tunes were indeed made, some sick rhymes were indeed written, some sick cuts were cut and some sick remixes are being bashed out at this very moment.
Hence my continuing absence in from clubs and parties. And hence my trip to Thailand next week.
That's right. I'll be eating Red Curry and drinking coconuts on the beach while you're getting soaked in the acidic downpours of Tokyo or London or wherever. TRA-LA-LA-LA-LA!
But, upon my return I apparently have to do a surgery on my arm, which is kind of shit.
Just when I thought my elbow was pretty much fixed after my last years scooter crash, my small finger started getting numb and shit and the doc claims that if I don't cut that shit, I might not be able to move it in a year or two.
No, it don't mean I have to cut my pinky off (the doc is not a yakuza), it means they gonna open my elbow, scrape off the muscle and move the nerves somewhere or something. LOVELY!
And then I'm gonna have to do physio for another 6 month. fuck.
On a positive note though, i never had surgery before so I'm kind of looking forward to it... lol
AND I'll get a new scar which I can show drunk birds and tell them I got shot in the arm trying to save a cute ferret from a maniac rapist! My popularity will soar! :)

やっと終わったっぽい！
2月はミキシング、レコーディングとプロダクションをやりながら、どんどんスタジオアップグレードしていた。んで、やっと終わったぽい！
まずはPro Tools 8ゲットした。Digi 003 Rackバージョンです。前使っていたEmu 1616mと比べたら、音がそんなに変わらないけど、モニターアウト4チャンネルとMuteやMonoスイッチがあるので、モニターコントローラを使わずスピーカにそのままさすとやっぱピュアーな音が1番いいな。しかも、パソコン電源入れなくても、ターンテーブルそのまま聞けるから、シンプルでいい。けど、48Khzのプロジェクトを開くと、CubaseもPro Toolsもちょっと遅く感じる。後はLatencyもね。Digi 003はマジで遅いわ！512サンプルじゃないと、CPUがイライラする。1616mって64サンプルで問題なく動いていた！
スピーカもアップグレードしちゃった！今まで使っていたFostexを友達にあげて、ヨロッパからAdam A7をインポートした！最初はKRK VXT8かAdam P11aにしようと思ってたが、VXT8が1800Hzぐらいでクロスオーバーか何かがあって、ちょっと何かいやだった。全体で超いいモニターだけど。そんで、P11AとA7を比べたら、Adamが自分に負けてるじゃんと思って！P11Aが70hzぐらいで超変な音してて、しかも低音は56hzで終わりぽくて！A7がちっちゃ過ぎと思ったが、聞いたら、バランスはマジで良くて、びびった！上が35khzまでも聞こえる！スイートスポットもはんぱじゃないし！ローも４６hzぐらいまで問題なく聞こえる！Adamがこれ出して、マジで失敗したと思う。値段2倍のP11Aより全然バランスが良くて、P11Aが絶対売らなくなっちゃうと思う！
次はプリアンプでござる！これは最高！Focusrite ISA-ONEです。あのレジェンドのFocusriteのPreampの1チャンネルです。音がキラキラだ。ハイが超キレイし、ローが誰か耳のとなりにしゃべってるみたいな「ハッキリさ」があって。SM58で超スタイリッシュに聞こえるし、ショボイ中国マイクで4万高くなったみたいな音になっちゃった！
それで、Juno 106もゲット。しかも6000円で。もちろんジャンクだけど、音が出てるので、とりあえず自分で修理してみようと思ってる。音がすごいよ、これは。一回ひいてみたら、すぐゾンビー出そうな超80年代の音だった！とりあえず、音が使えないぐらい太過ぎ！これ使うんだったら、このシンセはメインじゃないと無理と思う。もうできている曲に入れようとしたら、キャラクターが多すぎて、ミックスに上手く入らないからさ！
後一番使うものなんだけど、Sonyのジャンクの3000円のBoomboxだ。モニター4台も使ってるんだけど、これは無いと死ぬかも。ほとんどこれでミックスしてる。しかもいすの後ろなので、完全曇ったMONOで聞いてるみたいな感じですが、メインモニターでチェックしたら、バッチリです。
後色々細かいものもアップグレードしたんだけど。コンプ、マイク、ケーブルなど。でもね、やっぱJuno 106は一番嬉しい。Rolandにリスペクト！宝物だ。

Yours truly has been upgrading his studio for the best part of this month. Upgrading meaning doing lots of research, checking exchange rates, doing listening tests, soldering cables and bidding the shit out of auctions!
Here's a sum of the main parts:
I's got me a Digi 003 Rack. With Pro Tools 8 and all that. Comparing that to my Emu 1616m, it didn't actually sound that different. I guess they both have digidesign converters, so that could be the case. The biggest and the most important difference was I think that Digi 003 has 4 dedicated monitor output channels (which duplicate channels 1 & 2), monitor swich button for switching between the 2 pairs, mono and mute buttons and of course the much revered KNOB. So I could finally loose my monitor controller. Which suddenly made shit sound way better. On top of that Digi 003 can work offline without PC, so I can use it as monitor controller for my turntables, synth etc. nice nice! the downside is that it's fucking slow. Seriously, this thing's latency is utter bollox compared to 1616m. I need at least 512samples to run Pro Tools or Cubase without weird spikes, whereas 1616m could strain itself to 64 before it started choking.
& Digi 003 doesn't like 48Khz! Biiiitch! hahaha.
Also got a pair of Adam A7s (imported from UK cos pound is fucked now. :). Was stuck between KRK VXT8s and Adam P11As for a bit. KRKs are nice and big and manly and got that whole DICK factor for your cheuvinistic pleasure, but they sounded weird to me 1800hz. I think it must've been the crossover. Whereas P11As are Adam A7s bigger siblings, but they sounded pretty fucking shit (well, next to A7s that is, they kick the poo out of anything else though)! Weird eh? They cost twice as much, but somehow they sounded awkward at 70hz, like there was a bump there and only went down to 55hz or so, whereas A7s did 46hz without much strain and are half the price of P11As! I think Adam shot themselves in the foot there.
Also got a Focusrite ISA-ONE. This is the SHIIIEEEIIIEIIEEEIT! Seriously, even SM58 sounded bloody lovely through this! You can say anything about SM58, but you would never say LOVELY, so this is saying a lot. Even my cheap MXL mic sounded about 5 times more expensive. The lows are rich, the highs are smooth and it has a whole bunch of power stages to choose the right kind of gain for your mic and sound. No wonder an 8 channel version of this ting costs the same as a car!
And now the star of this geek-show. Juno 106. I've had my sleazy eye on this ting forever. Had my ear on it for even longer, but last week found it on auction for 6000 yen! junk of course, but it still plays. Wot it sounds like? Well, lets just say that when a punched a chord or 3 I thought zombies were gonna creep out of my closet! It sounds bloody wicked! It sounds like the nastiest moments of George Romero movies. The chorus button might as well be labeled the BETTER BUTTON and the modulation fader might as well be named the WICKED FADER! and I'm not even gonna mention the pitch bend options. it's the Bogs Dollox!
Amongs other things I also upgraded the cabling, mics, hard-disks, compressors and so on. Now hopefully, I can just get on with music before I start building a new rack mount DAW. :)
